Reading at home

Reading at home is very important as it helps the children to develop a number of skills including their use of vocabulary and understanding of the world. There are always opportunities to do some reading both at home and when you are out and about.

Some examples of what the children could read are: stories, recipes and instructions, leaflets, posters, road signs, food labels etc.

When reading with your children, it is important to ask them questions to help develop their skills. For some examples of great questions to ask, click here.
